As winter construction comes to a close, Coastal GasLink has cleared 72% of the total 670km pipeline route, most sections have in excess of 70% clear, and Section 5 celebrates 100% route clearance. All done with zero serious incidents or injury over 4million person-hours.

Melting snow, thawing conditions and sensitive migration of birds and other species now make construction work impossible, but spring and summer allow for other works.

“We’re going to focus our smaller team of local workers and contractors on critical activities such as environmental monitoring, sediment and erosion control, and site-specific activities including maintenance,” noted Dan Bierd, Coastal GasLink’s Vice President of Pipeline Implementation.

In light of Covid-19 he continues “We recognize even more so now that we have to work together and look out for one another. We will offer our assistance in support of local efforts to keep residents safe.”
